Acne cure or remedy? Help!?

I don't have bad acne, but when I do, it's everywhere. I have dry/oily skin and use oil-free face wash twice a day (morning and night) but it doesn't seem to be helping the blackheads and occasional bad breakouts.. Any remedy's or suggestions to help clear my skin up?

I have a similar skin type as you described. I made a mistake and tried to treat my occasional breakout with tons of acne-specific products, and it ended up making my face worse. Here is what I did that finally worked.

Every morning I use (& continue to use) Clean & Clear morning burst face wash. I then wipe my face down with an oil-free toner (Neutrogena Oil-Free Toner). The next step is key: I bought some 100% Aloe Vera gel & began putting it on the areas I break out. The aloe helps soothe the acne and it draws out the excess oils from the skin - it doesn't clog pores. I find that pimples heal quicker and don't leave behind marks. Once the aloe is completely dry I top everything off with a very light moisturizer that is formulated for breakouts & dry skin (Clean & Clear Dual Action is amazing...amazing!).

As for night time, it's generally the same with a couple more steps. I wear make up, so getting everything off the skin is VERY important. I use a makeup removing wipe to clear off as much as possible. I hop in the shower & use a very mild cleanser while in there (Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser). About two or three times a week I use an exfoliating face scrub (Saint Ives Apricot Scrub) on areas prone to clogged pores. On the other days I just use my Clean & Clear. Again, tone, top it off with some aloe, and then your light moisturizer.

I hope this helps. I have tried many routes and this one has made worlds of a difference. I got so sick of wasting money on expensive face products that I decided to find my own way.

Melody posted this recently about Coconut Oil.

I recommend You moisturize your skin with organic unrefined extra virgin coconut oil. I know you might be like, is she crazy telling me to put OIL on my face? NO i am not crazy:) All of my Friends use coconut oil for their body, hair, health and skin. And their skin and mine is very healthy. Coconut oil even helped one of my Friend who suffered acne for about 1 year. She started using coconut oil everyday as a moisturizer, and now she has clear skin! She still had to use a cleanser, and eat healthy and stuff. But COCONUT oil helps the body, skin and hair in SO many ways!

I found out coconut oil is a very effective way to treat acne. I use the organic USDA, unrefined, and extra virgin coconut oil. And it smells sooo good!!! It does not clog pores, well it does not to me. It give you a natural glow, cure redness, acne, acne scar, dryness, wrinkle, fine lines, oiliness, and any skin condition like rash! It 10 times as better than other acne treatments! Coconut oil is a very great natural way to cure acne. Use it as your facial moisturizer.

Oh and I TAKE TURMERIC PILLS EVERYDAY. ONCE A DAY AND IT HELPS TO FIGHT FREE RADICIALs THAT AGE OUR SKIN AND BODY. It HELPS TO MAKE MY SKIN GLOW, AND HELPS TO KEEP MY IMMUNE SYSTEM good and ACNE at bay. You will see result in about 1 month or 2. It is a VERY natural way to get rid of acne. GOOD LUCK!

    Thanks Melody......P

You could try one of the many over the counter cleanser/degreasers, most are based on peroxide, Panoxyl is a typical example. If this fails the next step is to see your GP for topical or oral antibiotics. Avoid tetracycline and oxytetracyline as they are awkward to take and not very effective, minocycline or lymecycline are better.

Source(s): GP for more years than I care to remember

Most products from Clean and Clear are very reliable. Try one of those, and be patient for it to start working.
