Pokemon Ruby EV question?

I want to make strong pokemon and I recently heard of EVs, and I used to use action replay and get unlimited rare candies and level my pokemon that way but my friend told me that doing that makes them much weaker. I was looking around on my action replay and one of the cheats was that the Pokemon that i would encounter would give me lots of XP and i mean alot like 50 times the normal amount. but would that also make my pokemon weak

yes it would but only to an extent. EVs are gained by defeating pokemon in battle. the more you beat, the more EVs you get. the more EVs you get, the higher the stats of your pokemon. so if you use a code to increase XP, your pokemon will still gain a few EVs but not as much as you would by battling things normally (i.e. w/o the cheat code). EVs take time and effort but it pays off because your pokemon can have higher stats than if you just leveled it up.

try serebii. they give a really good explanation.

I've had Pokemon Ruby like....literally my ENTIRE life so i'm kind of an expert. A GIRL expert :). And No, I always gave my pokemon rare candies. And They would never go weak. I guess. In case they do, just take them to the Pokemon Center!
