killer whales trapped in ice - Canada?

You may already know that 11 killer whales (including 'babies') are trapped in a tiny shrinking hole surrounded by ice and are gasping for air (Hudson Bay, Canada); this was discovered 18 hours ago. The local people desperately asked the Canadian government/authorities for help (they wanted an ice breaker to make a pathway for the whales to get out, and they said that the ice is thin so it should be relatively easy to do); the Canadian government shrugged their shoulders and now, after international 'attention', they are 'sending some expert tomorrow to assess the situation' (can you believe it????) It takes 36 hours for an ice breaker to reach those areas. Had they sent it 18 hours ago, it'd be on its way. But the reality is that they finally said it was too expensive to do so. Aren't you ashamed of our Canadian government? I am !!! We have the worst government when it comes to doing something about just about anything. I am ashamed and heartbroken. What's wrong with doing the right thing from time to time? We should make this a public embarrassment for this 'do-nothing' government.

How very sad, but experts are on their way and the whales may yet be saved.

they could have looked like heroes on the international stage, as anything like that attracts a lot of publicity, instead they look like a government of chumps.

same thing happened a few years ago, the Russian government sent in an ice breaker to free a trapped whale ( i don't think for one minute they cared an iota for the whale, instead they wanted the publicity - as heroes) so petition the Russians.
