Why is it that most Americans don't understand the concepts of Socialism and Communism?
Socialism occurs when governments control large businesses and their resources, and communism occurs when the government (and by extension in this case, the people) own the means of production and all businesses. I actually love communism. The reason Communism and Socialism have never worked is because the world has never seen these two theories actually running in their purest forms; they have all devolved into some form of despotism. I'm an anarcho-communist, by the way.
I do NOT support capitalism at all because it exploits the worst aspects of humanity. I think survival of the fittest worked in old societies, but we shouldn't be running this way in first-world countries. It's ridiculous that there are so many homeless people, and it's also ridiculous that some people have such an unbelievably narrow, condescending, and selfish attitude about helping those less fortunate than they are, and then having the audacity to brush it off as them simply being lazy. I'll tell you all now, I know a few people working two or three jobs and still barely making enough. That isn't what I call "lazy." Also, circumstances in life lead us into the gutter sometimes. I'm sorry that there are so many people out there who can't accept that reality is much broader than their very narrow views.
I don't have a direct person with whom I can argue, so I have to make general statements. Sorry for falling into the straw man fallacy.
Equal outcome cannot be achieved; you are right. However, financial and personal equality can be achieved by the elimination of money called for in anarcho-communism.
You better yourself through learning and free will. If you have to turn a monetary profit at the end of the day to feel satisfied, you're selfish. Working for the sake of society and other people, not yourself, is probably the best way to come to understand and accept other people and their struggles. Also, there is no real reason to need or even want monetary superiority. Why would you need that? To feel superior to someone else? For what reason do you need to feel superior? All that metters is that everyone has food on the table and a house in which he or she can live. As to those saying Communism represses people, no, it does not. In fact, with communism, the government is supposed to become irrelevant. You eventually choose your job and your profession. You don't need to pay for school, so you can learn what you want and express what you want. Overall, capitalism is much more oppressive than communism ever dreamed of being. The idiot totalitarian dictators don&

Isn't it sad that what I would assume is an American is actually asking this question, such is the calamity of those who live with their eyes closed. First and foremost you can NOT be an American and a communist/socialist because both two ideologies (which there's no real difference) are both treasonous ideologies because they are in direct violation of the laws set forth by The United States Constitution, which is not an optional document but supreme law. Our constitution and our Bill of Rights were specifically designed to protect Americans from the tyranny born out of socialism/communism/totalitarian rule and etc.
Even though it had been unnamed at the time our founding fathers had penned the constitution they were very aware of how the system could be manipulated by stating "When they learn they can vote themselves the treasury, that will herald the end of the republic" practically a direct quote.
Basically communism and socialism does not belong in America and if things continue down this road there will be an all out war, so have fun typing your cute little quips and questions but know this..it's the patriots who have the veterans, the guns, and the training before you continue to set glory upon the heels of socialism.
BTW Do some fact checking, in every country where those ideologies have been implemented not only led to economic ruin, it also led to the deaths of countless men, women and children. Be a peasant or be a free man, you decide.

I believe in equal oppurtunity, NOT equal outcome.
Some people do work multiple jobs, but if you work hard in school and get a useful degree, you almost never have to worry about it.
The national unemployment rate is about 9%
Unemployment for people with a bachelors degree - 5%
Unemployment rate for engineering majors - 3%

A professor I used to have tested communism. He took every grade for a major exam, and averaged them together. Everyone got that averaged grade, whether they scored high or low. It was a B-. The people that worked hard were pissed off, and the people that hadn't studied at all were very happy. When the next test rolled around, the people that worked hard wanted a free ride too, so they didn't study. The next average grade was a D. The next time, everyone failed and got an F.

When you want people of differing opinions to be more receptive, try removing the lable. I am fine with your desire to understand the poor and poverty, being in that category. You are right that it truely isn't about laziness, education or any one thing by itself. There is a system in place that rewards certain members of society and their efforts above others making the same or greater efforts and it is a matter of degrees. So the people of middle and upper income are thouroughly convinced the system works and that people who aren't making it are doing something wrong. It is so much easier for them than accepting the truth which really doesn't affect them. It doesn't affect them so why should they care. However, the shrinking middle class...those not so well connected and not so stable...the working middle class are being slapped hard with this reality. Unfortunately they are also targets of government reprograming...gun removal, cps, drug programs when they aren't on drugs, cut off from family, foreclosure and all kinds of things. They are so down and disoriented and so focused on family reunification they don't have time to join your fight. They will be lucky to be working class by the time "they" are through with them. Every time they break up a family they get money to their programs and justify their government jobs. The only people who are interested are the poor and working class and those who still kept their wits after losing their former glory. (sweeping the streets they used to own so to speak) Hang in there but give up the lables socialism and commuinism.

The problem with communism and socialism is they do turn into shitty dictatorships, its the only way a system like that can run. Imagine if you knew you wouldn't be rewarded for your work and you wouldn't be much worse off if you didn't. Would you work? I know I wouldn't. At the same time you have one really small group of people controlling most of the money in the country. Not the 1% -50% garbage people were complaining about here either the .01% controlling 100%.
People are selfish and need motivation to work and be a productive member of society. Its just the way it is.
On a side note if someone can't manage on three jobs they need to learn how to budget.

the US isn't a Social Democracy. no longer yet, besides. we are a republican (no longer the celebration) democracy. specially a Constitutional Republic. and additionally you're ultimate. it is not Communism, whether it is closer to Communism than what we are meant to be. magnificent attempt, yet you will choose better than a one hundred point Poli Sci textbook to outsmart every physique older than 18.

For starters... "Pure" communism has never been practiced because it has a tendency to quickly fall into fascism or dictatorship. It's just the nature of it and one of the reasons it doesn't work.
And... You really want to live in a world where you can't come up with an idea, put a bunch of hard work into it, lose some sleep and see a payoff from that?... live better than the lazy people who don't work hard or make any effort to better themselves?
I think that's just plain sad. You can try to build that Hell if you want. But, don't blame me for what happens if you start talking your commie junk around me.

MY UNDERSTANDING OF THEM IS VERY GOOD AND I KNOW THEY DON'T WORK
There are two laws that you can never break and if you try all you will get is a lot of pain and misery
1. Life is not fair, never has been & never will
2. It is possible to create equal opportunity, but it is impossible to create equal outcome
