Eating crawfish; how much is safe?

I generally cook and eat only the tail meat, but I see folks eating or sucking out the meat in the body and claws as well. I always thought the body portion was unhealthy. The crawfish we get here are so small I''d like to maximize the edible portions. How much of these little mudbugs are safe to eat?

Update:

I should rephrase that. What portions of the body are safe to eat, not how many. Also these are generally fresh-caught/ harvested, and the health department hasn't touched them.

My limit is about 3 pounds before I start feeling ill...but I think that's just from eating that much.

EDIT: I was trying to throw a little humor into the situation.

When it comes to crawdads, pretty much everything but the shell is safe to eat. I always followed the old adage of "Pinch the tail, then suck the head". But a lot of people I know only eat the tails.

You can eat anything from the crawfish, they've been inspected by the health center. And it's yummy!

    Peace
