What Would the Building of a Temple Mean?

According to the head of manuscripts at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Najeh Bkeirat, he suspects Israel of planning to build the third Holy Temple. [See the article at the link below.]

What would the building of the Temple mean religiously for Jews, Christians and Muslims. I do NOT mean "Arabs" or the Middle-Easterners, I mean Muslims. Will the building of the Temple be a confirmation of the 'prophecies' of the named religions, or tend to contradict them?

Additional Details

[I do not care if the report is true or not. I just want to know what the religious ramifications of the building of the Temple would be.]

Update:

@ Antonius. There may be some evidence that THE Temple could be built on the Temple Mount, in its proper place but NEAR the locations of the Dome of the Rock and Al Aksa Masjid. (The standard, proposed location of the two previous Temples was where the Dome is, not the Masjid.)

See the map labled, "The Northern Placement of the Temples" here: http://www.templemount.org/theories.html

Update 2:

Alex, it will mean the end of the current ERA, and ushering in of the Messianic Era, not the end of the world.

This is not really about Muslims. It's more about preserving Palestinian Arab history.

If the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa were destroyed, it would simply be another ancient Islamic building going down. Hell, even the Prophet Muhammad's house was destroyed in Saudi Arabia b/c of the population!

Muslims, me included, DO NOT face Jerusalem. If we pray on the Mount, we turn our backs towards it and face Mecca. So there is no religious obligation upon us to 'defend it'.

It's a National symbol for Palestine and gives 'hope' to the people. It has no religious rites, and God won't punish us for not preserving it.

The Jews have waited for a Temple for 2000 years, so i personally wouldn't mind seeing it built. Granted, Jews, Christians, and Muslims should ALL be given the right to worship in it. (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and then the rest of the week to the Jews. This would only seem fair.

But it is true that the Dome is the oldest Architectural masterpiece of Islam, so it should be transported to Jordan or Lebanon so as to preserve history. But that would cost Million$! So it's a huge Dilemma.

There are no prophesies of a temple in Jerusalem in the Quran, b/c Jerusalem is not even mentioned!

Before anyone answers a thing: Would the Jewish Temple mean that Jews can judge upon Jewish law? Because I wouldn't like that and that would meant all my lack of support to Israel.

It would mean that the mosque in Jerusalem would be torn down and a Judaism temp[le would be constructed on that same spot

Israel is not planning to do so.

    The question is therefore redundant.
