The speech is being given to Merkel and Hollande first, to make sure that they approve and to allow them to make changes, then it is being given in Europe, not London. Why doesn't Cameron go the whole hog and lie down on the floor and ask the EU to tickle his tummy while on TV?

I would like to be in his position, because I would say that there will be an In or Out Referendum on EU membership in the next 12 months and everybody will abide by its outcome. That satisfies the No to EU people and the Yes to EU people, stops the festering sore that is the EU in UK politics, and settles the question for a generation.

All this rubbish about 'renegotiating' is just that, rubbish. The other 26 members are not going to cut their financial throats by agreeing to anything that means they have less UK Taxpayers money.
