because they just don't know what there talking about,in the last 2 mass killings,a shotgun would have been just as effective if not more.1 12 gauge shotgun shell can hold 9 pellets the size of 22 caliber.and for all the laws there proposing, criminals dont go buy then only honest people.laws are made to prosacute people after they are broken.

shotguns, typically hold far fewer rounds than assault rifles and pose less of a threat from a distance beyond 25 yards. but its not say a few of them aren't on the banned list. The AA-12 is a magazine fed shotgun, so it may get banned.
But then too it all depends on how they define an assault weapon. they could call any rifle thats magazine fed, an assault rifle.

Because they are hunting weapons for ducks, geese, wild turkey and other game meat. As a result it would be next to impossible to ban the weapons. The public simply wouldn't put up with it!

Because US have had guns since the beginning, and removing the ban from a over 150 year old tradition won't be that easy sadly.

Because the US government is more concerned and worried about Gay rights. Ban on shotguns is a secondary issue. Priorities always matter !
