Skyrim: can't defeat Alduin but can do damage to him?
I got the greybeards quest early in the game (around lvl 6?) so I assume it shouldn't be as hard as it is for me. However I put the quest off for a while and I am know a level 32. My problem is not being unable to damage the dragon it is he kills be before I leave a scratch. I get him on the ground and start tearing into him (along with Mjoll) and I am all but dead or dead before he finishes his first burst of fire. Normally I just bash dragons with my shield and they stop and I can take them out pretty quick. With Alduin however it seems everything I try just gets me killed faster. So should I try and get out of the fight somehow, I guess what I am asking is what level do I need to be to defeat this guy
I just tried ducking in behind him to let Mjoll take most of the hits and it caused the glitch :/ dont know if it happens all the time but thought people should be advised of it.

i defeated him at level 9 then again in his afterworld lair at 13 im assuming your talking about the fight on the throat of the world you use dragon rend on him then i just kept power swinging with the steel greatsword then slash after slash (iv upgraded two handed weapons alot) it was easy that way.if you mean in the afterworld place its impossible to beat him unless you clear the fogs first wait till all the dragon borns say ready then use the clear skies shout i think it is to clear the fog(this must be done at least 4 or 5 times) then use dragon rend to bring him down and i defeated him the same way i did the first. hope this helps. oh i also had the full dwavern armour which is the best you get i think.

I beat him a lvl 18 with Alea the huntress, while he was flying around she constantly barraged him with arrows. I had alot of health & stamina potions to.
Source(s): If he's to hard, try doing other quests for a while to level up, or just beat a few dungeons. Be sure your weapons, and armour are the best you can get
