is there a taste differnce between Wine, Beer, Rum, and vodka?

and I mean the taste, not the aftertaste...

and to be clear: I am legitimately asking because when I have attempted to drink numbers of alcoholic drinks (a number of them without my knowledge before hand, only realizing during the attempted drinking when I could taste the same taste I taste when I tried all of the others, except for the aftertaste which is either some type of fruit, dirt, or something else I can't quite put my finger on)

Yes, there is a difference. There is also a lot of difference within the categories you asked about. Wines can be sweet or dry, light or hearty and have an amazing number of notes or tastes having nothing to do with the taste of grapes or the oak they are aged in.

Similarly, beers vary significantly in their taste, from a light pilsner to a heavy, hearty bock, there are almost an infinite variety of tastes. Beers differ from wines in that they taste of the grains and herbs that were used in their production while wines center around the taste of pressed grapes.

Rum is a product of fermented sugar cane juice or molasses, that greatly influences its taste. Vodka can be produced from almost any starch, but has a history of fermented potato. Modern vodka can be either vegetable or grain based. Whiskey is made from cereal grains. These may be malted (sprouted) or fermented from unaltered grains. The flavor can be modified by adding caramel or aromatics, and by distilling over a peat or other flavor-rich fire source.

Then there are liquors. That's a whole different set of tastes. And brandy, that is distilled wines.

If you don't like the taste of alcoholic beverages, don't try to drink them. You may have an allergy, and your body is telling you to move on.

Wine: fermented from fruit (usually grape)

    Beer: fermented from grains

    Rum: distilled from molasses

Vodka: distilled from grain (originally from potato)

    Certainly.

Is there a difference between grapes, grains, sugar cane, and potatoes?

If you can't tell the difference something is wrong with you.

Maybe you need to grow up. At least pay attention to the world around you.
