Do we have free will, or does God have a plan?

Kinda hard to have something to happen to you because God dictated it so and to be able to act within your own ability.

Update:

Isnt it silly, then, to send people to hell if he knows we're going to break "his laws"? Since we will do what we will DEPENDING on how, when, and where he created us?

    Yes, we have free will.

And God does have a plan. We do not know 100% of the details of God's plan. We do have some vague idea as to where things are going because the Bible includes some prophecy into the future.

God also has foreknowledge as to what is going to happen in the future. That's the part that our tiny brains cannot understand. Because in our world, the future has not yet happened. But in God's understanding, it has. How does anyone wrap their mind around that idea?

All you have to remember is that your choices in life matter, and it would be helpful to make the right choices. Because everything has consequences.

It depends on what religion, but in the catholic region there is free will. Each day that you wake up you make your own choices and can decide what you want to do and how you want to act. God only helps influence our decisions to be good people and to do what is right. His plan is kind of complicated, in the way that there isn't some big event, but he puts certain people in the world to fill certain roles, and he plans for people to do good. God does not want people to go hell, but if we choose to do bad things then we have chosen where we will go.

The two are by no means mutually exclusive. God does have a plan that He would like to see you carry out, but you have the option to collaborate with Him or not. It's like those Sims games; He knows all the possible outcomes to all the possible choices we will make, since He's infinite and we are finite. But we do have the choice as to which decision we will make at a given point. We may see those possibilities as "infinite" but from God's greater perspective they are not.

God does not "dictate." He offers. You can accept or reject at each point, it's up to you. What you choose determines your results, now and for eternity.

    Choose wisely.

Both, we have free will to choose, but I believe God already knows what you will decide beforehand. Yes God does have plan as well, this plan was most likely already made before he created man.

We have free will on earth, but God has a master-plan of which we are not totally aware, but does include the advancement of His kingdom past the life of this planet.

we have free will, God has a plan, if we follow the plan of God, we find glory and exaltation. if we follow our own path, we lead ourselves into deserts and barren waste lands.

God only wants the best for all of his children and he will daily try to make their lives better by asking them to do things that will make it better, but the choices are always theirs.-Jesus Christ

If the plan I'm following isn't of my making but some higher authority then I can only assume that I am a God, as it is exactly as I envisaged.

Were not robots so free will, or else then how can we be judged by him. We are blessed that's different
