What would be a good program for my laptop to keep track of 8 checkbooks?
I have 8 checkbooks for various properties and personal finance. I need to keep track in them for tax purposes. I used to do it at work with quickbooks pro but at home I don't have a program...what would be a good one to buy that is fairly easy to use as I am retiring now and my memory isn't what it used to be..thanks in advance

Quicken for home. Quick books pro is more for setting up a business. Quicken for home lets you set up multiple accounts and even link them with the bank if you wish to do that too.

years ago I worked for a CPA who had several accountants working for him and it was those accountants who worked different properties for their clients. Perhaps there's a program out there that both you and them could look at your accounts simultaneously. And they could do the work for you. You'd have to ask them. But maybe as you grow older it's time to get rid of some of those properties and simplify your life, or have a trusted younger (than you) relative take over the work.
When you get older you need to contact an attorney and do a living will, a will, a financial and health surrogate document and power of attorney. That health and financial would be for the person you name to take over your property accounting should you be unable to do it anymore, or you could set it up that they could work along with you now to get used to what's going on and then to take it over in your name when you get older. So call your attorney.

You have referral to Open Office which is great. But why not keep track of all of them at one time and at one location. That is one of the benefits of banking online. I have three accounts I keep track off. It is so much easier to just login to the bank and check on them. If you do this I also suggest using a credit union instead of a common bank.

Open Office is a free computer program you can download. It has a good spreadsheet that is very easy to use for what you are describing. I pasted a link where you can download it.
