Dogs are a man's best friend. If you lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of the car for half a day, when you open trunk which one will be happy to see you?

I'm sure that they are but as an o.a.p. I can do without the work and the expense of vets bills now so will not be having any more. We had many pets when I was a child and my daughter who was the last to leave home had a dog which I cared for more than she did but that has now gone also.

I also enjoy walking on my own so don't need a dog to make me get out and exercise.

I would agree. I have a 20 gallon aquarium with 8 fish. I bought 4 minnows, at 15 cents each, and 4 goldfish, at 24 cents each. I rescued them from being food for a bigger fish. And if one should die, I just buy another one. They swim all around the tank all day, I guess they are happy. I like to look at them from time to time.

I would NOT be happy if I bought a fish that cost $25 and then it died.

I watch my 90 year old grandma who has dementia. At first I hated her jack Russell, he begged for food and liked her hands so much and she would then put her hands in her mouth and it would annoy me but she doesn't understand, now I see that having this dog is a good thing. He looks after her. Its so strange. He tells me when she gets up from bed, he comforts her when she's confused, and makes her laugh when he runs around. I believe she would be very lonely if he wasn't there. Good dog.

I certainly have 2 canines residing and one cat residing on the present 2nd. i will enable you to be attentive to easily from my adventure with those 3 that Animals do certainly have souls. i will tell while they are happy, excited, disenchanted, depressed, hectic, etc. all of them prepare love in rather some techniques, and that they assist you to be attentive to of their own way while they are mad at you. My oldest canines will certainly have arguments with me. besides to my each and every day interactions with my 3 babies now, I certainly have had many pets provided that i replaced right into a infant. those days, my early existence cat handed directly to the finished beyond at my mothers and dads domicile. while ever i circulate to circulate to them, I provide up by skill of her grave to declare hi; yet while i'm sitting on the settee, or mendacity down in mattress, i will nonetheless experience her curling up on my lap or chest; that's something she continually did once I lived there. i be attentive to that's her, because of the fact i will experience her massaging the place she is going to place down. She used to take her front paws and push down alternating paws the place she replaced into going to curve up. So sure, Pets do have souls and are able to feeling and experiencing an identical thoughts that human beings can.

well I know they're good for your blood pressure.

I enjoy having my pet around. I know that they are loyal to you while you have them but can be just as loyal to someone else, so they really don't "give back" to you.

It's not fair though that if you're like in your late 60's to get a young pet who would outlive you, or if you have dementia coming on and can't be around to take care of them after you got that pet. They can't take care of themselves.

Not sure about the soul part, but pets are good for you. My grandmother has dementia and was lonely. We rescued a homeless 5 year old lab. They are best friends He keeps her busy she's not so depressed. My two dogs are my babies.

Yes. And many ppl get great pleasure from them. But some as some point just get tired of taking care of anything. They have maybe taken care of too many. So I understand ppl who don't want pets too.

I used to believe that until recently when I started to see that anything outside of ourself is really not best for us. I don't mean that we shouldn't love others but when we depend on others for the benefit of our soul we are not going to be happy when they leave us & everyone is going to either leave us or we are going to leave them.

So whatever it is we get from pets will be better off getting from within us. What if the feeling we had when we got home was not dependent on a dog but was something we felt all the time? What if the feeling of our cat brushing up against our leg & purring was something we felt everything at all times? What if the cuteness was something we could see in everyone including ourself?

When we stop depending on others to make us feel good we will not fear the storms in life. We will stop depending on what is going on outside of us & we will have a connection with what is inside of us. The qualities of love, peace, joy, harmony, happiness, intelligence, safety. Wow, look at how insecure people are when they NEED a gun. We have arms to hold & love & hug & protect ourselves yet the dependency on outer arms is a false belief. Those who don't see this will have to at some point.

There's nothing, absolutely nothing, like the love a dog gives to his or her family. They are always pleased to see you. They don't care if you are unshaven, or returning dirty from work. They are loyal, affectionate, marvellous with children and the elderly, not to forget the blind. They comfort the sick and they can be the first to spot infection.

A dog belongs to a family. A cat has a staff.
