Do any accurate casualty figures exist for Palestine-Israeli conflict?

Idle curiousity here, --how many Palestinians have been killed versus how many Israelis? since 1948 -- that seems a good year to start.

Update:

No deflections, Martin, that's not what I asked.

6 if you are looking for those stats then I would suggest you look for the period of the eighties when Israel was shelling Lebanon, you will find it there. For the Palestinians look for the period, details are hard to come by when they were in Sabra and the other camp figures were taken by the world Health organization. You might try reporters who have covered that beat for AP or Reuters who have written extensively or a book even. The figures for both exist though.

Why does it matter? Are the Israelis twice as bad as the Palestinians if they have killed twice as many people? Violence begets violence. One side has to kill the other because they killed previously. That cycle of violence never ends. Too many people have died on both sides. It's time to stop the conflict. Playing the numbers game doesn't help.
