Is there a board like Rasberry Pi that could run windows 8?

In my area we have a lot of elderly people who don't have computers who, because of digital cameras would like one. Thing is, a lot of them cannot afford 600+ dollars for a PC so I am trying to search for a solution... It can't run Ubuntu or Linux because of compatibility issues with software they need. Any help would be great!

Thanks

Will

If you are looking for small options, there are some small PCs out there, including mini PCs like the Intel NUC kit (http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/motherboard...

However, if you want cheap options, the best would probably be a netbook or an old Pentium-class laptop.

    Hi

" It can't run Ubuntu or Linux because of compatibility issues with software they need"

I cannot understand why you cannot use a digital camera with linux.

As you don't need the software that comes with the camera.i

    http://linuxappfinder.com/alternatives

also google digital cameras and Linux.

If the camera uses digital mass storage, (80% of all cameras), you need no software you just plug in the camera and the drive appears. If the camera uses another protocol then just use a front end for gphoto2.

    OR

Just remove card and put into a $5 card reader!!!

Picassa has a version on linux. Gimp instead of photoshop.

With puppy linux you can remaster the distro and make a puppy especially for photographs.

I have a old Packard bell laptop that is that old it has desktop ram !!!!

Cost $78 3 years ago, I have another that was a throw out!. and a cd-r. I just plug in my cannon camera and drag and drop the pictures where i want them to go.

Puppy runs on most computers up to 12 years old.

Puppy is of course free and has an excellent forum. see below.

And I use Puppy Linux in the office with clients and at home, as its a mid range Linux with no restrictions therefore puppy is a great learning tool as well as an every day desktop. I have used Puppy since version 0.1 in June 2003 and professionally for the last 7 years. Given the vast difference in minimum system requirements between Windows and LXDE, which I believe is the version of Debian the Pi typically runs, probably not.
