Why do you have take insulin?
I was diagnosed with type 2 back in 2006. I was placed on an insulin plan. Thing is I've never eve taken one dosage of insulin since. Every time I go to the dr they tell me I'll die or be in a coma or loose and arm, NOT be able to have kids.
I just want to know why is it important to take it. Will it affect me having kids? Will I loose and arm? Will I die fro it? Will I go in to a coma?
I have been fine ever since so whats the big deal about taking it?
I mean were all going to die anyway why take it to live?
I'm tired of being treated differently, really who wants to live like that. I dont want to get looks in public when i'm out eating and shoot my self up or be accused of doing drugs.
My dr won't even try to place me on oral only. He is stay on injection. I dont know why he wont even try to just do an oral med.

There are tons of information on insulin on the internet and its importance in diabetes. What is more relevant at this point is your non-compliance. At this point it is safe to assume that your diabetes is severe and oral medication is not sufficient to manage your condition.
Based on this, here are some of the answers to your questions :
1. Yes it will affect your fertility.
2. Yes you could lose your arm, although a leg is more likely, due to gangrene.
3. Yes, you can die from diabetic complications if you do not manage you condition appropriately.
4. Yes, you can go into a coma - several different types with diabetes like ketoacidotic coma, hyperosmolar and lactic acidosis coma.
5. Diabetes is not a condition that "kills" you overnight in most instances (have to be crude at this point if it will help you live longer). It takes years to do so unless you have one of the diabetic emergencies that can be fatal in a short period of time. So while you are fine now, it will not be so forever. Nobody can say exactly when the complications start arising but at this rate for example, you can be sure of needing dialysis at least in another 10 years time if not sooner.
The problem with diabetes is that it can be so deceiving at the outset. You feel fine. Everything seems to be working fine. And then everything starts going "wrong" and you will so badly want to reverse it but it will be too late at that point.
Please do yourself a favor and adhere to the prescribed treatment. Your life may not be important to you but I am sure you are important to somebody. Think of that if you do not want to do it for yourself.

Insulin is the hormone that controls blood sugar (glucose) levels in the blood. Glucose is the food used by all cells in the body. Insulin is needed after meals to bring glucose levels down into the normal range.Cells get injured or they die if glucose levels are too high or too low. You do not feel or even notice the damage done when glucose is too high because it occurs at a cellular level. The cell damage slowly adds up over decades. Nerves cells are the most sensitive cells killed by uncontrolled glucose, but the heart, blood vessels, kidneys and eyes are also vulnerable. All damage is irreversible and you won't know what damage has occurred until its too late.
If you do not take your insulin, you can probably have kids if you don't wait much longer, but diabetes can cause birth defects and miscarriages, so it might affect your ability to have kids. If you have kids, you probably won't be around to see your kids grow into adults if you do not take insulin. You might not ever go into a coma, but if you live beyond the age of 40 or so, you are likely to have heart problems, face amputation of your legs, and suffer from blindness and kidney failure. All of this is preventable if you start keeping glucose under control.

If Tyler is a Type 1 diabetic he is in trouble, he does NOT know how it works. For type 1 diabetics the pancreas is damaged probably from a virus and it no longer produces insulin at all. What is insulin? It is a helper hormone that escorts glucose (sugar) across the cell wall so that the cell has energy. Without insulin glucose builds up, cannot get into the cells and you have all the diabetic issues I am sure you are aware of. Type 2 diabetics are different. This is often caused by family history, obesity, poor diet and lack of exercise. They usually start with oral meds to help produce insulin and get it where it needs to go. They can also need insulin to get the job done. Diabetics that are uncontrolled risk poor healing, kidney failure and blindness from excessive glucose levels. Your choice but your future is grim.

So, you want to die? Why do you go to the doctor? If you don't take insulin, Your vessels and arteries will start to clot, causing nerve damage and there buy, you can lose a foot or a toe or worse. If you have to have an incurable disease, this is the best one to have because it is treatable. Talk to your Dr and ask him your questions and express your feelings

Because your body needs it to live? I mean, you might not think its important but not being able to have kids, or a coma are bad things.
