planting bagged bird feed/seed?
Has anyone ever bought a bag of bird seed and planted it? I have seen some grow around bird feeders but don't know if seed has been gmo'd or is it raw. I bought a bag that has corn, sunflower, and several other types of seed in it. It would be nice to grab some out of bag and plant rather than tract down some for planting.

If it is your intent to save money by growing your own seeds, you may want to reconsider. The weed seed content in wild bird food is considerable. If you are trying to maintain an otherwise weed free landscape, then you are operating at cross purposes.
I use only Nyjer seed which has been processed (heat sterilized to prevent the seed from germinating) and wouldn't survive my winters anyway, cracked corn, and black sunflower seeds in separate feeders. By this approach, I enjoy a wide variety of birds, and I avoid introducing large numbers of weeds into my yard which subsequently have to be dealt with.
