Jehovah’s Witnesses & Christians: If Satan and Jesus battled "mano-a-mano,” who do you think would win?
We know from scripture (for example, Daniel 10:13, Jude 1:9), that Satan is a powerful foe and that even God’s mighty archangels must struggle for weeks to overcome him.
Martin Luther wrote this about Satan, “His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate, on earth is not his equal.” However, Luther points out in a subsequent verse that Jesus is fully capable of defeating Satan. Was Luther correct?
Last week, my youngest year old was watching a YouTube video called “Jesus versus Satan in a WWF smack-down.” His older brother closed the video and my young son said, “What did you do that for?! I want to see who wins.” My older son said that “we don’t need to have any doubt about who would win a battle between Jesus and Satan. It would not even be a close contest.”
That is what Christians believe about Jesus. We believe that He is God incarnate and that he doesn’t have to “struggle” with Satan – in the sense that there is any possibility that He would lose the battle. Anytime Jesus wants to defeat Satan, he could do it quickly and easily.
In fact, Jesus does not cower in fear at the feat of Satan – as a lowly archangel might do. And he does not require Jehovah-God to step into the fray to prevent him from being defeated.
But what about you? Let’s suppose (hypothetically) that you were in situation where Satan was going to attack you and kill you. Let’s say that the only thing between you and the evil one was Jesus Christ.
Exactly how strong is your Jesus-angel? If he battled Satan using 100 percent of his angel powers, would the battle last 21 days as depicted in Daniel (where Satan fought an archangel)?
Or put another way, would you feel safer if Jehovah was standing between you and the devil? Seeing as how you believe Jesus is a created Angel (more-or-less the brother of Lucifer), are their powers pretty equivalent? Was Martin Luther wrong when he told Christians that we “have the right man on our side?”

I'm sorry where do you find "archangels" in the bible?
Catholic tradition lists 3, the Eastern Orthodox lists 7.
Yet the bible only lists one, Michael.
To say that there are more than one is teach man's doctrine and not the bible.
Jude 1:9 doesn't say that Michael couldn't but that he wouldn't reprove Satan.
And since Satan didn't get Moses' body, then one on one, Jesus aka Michael won the fight.
In your senerio Jesus is between us and Satan.
Notice what John Calvin a trinitarian says: John 10:30
30. I and my Father are one. He intended to meet the jeers of the wicked; for they might
allege that the power of God did not at all belong to him, so that he could promise to his
disciples that it would assuredly protect them. He therefore testifies that his affairs are so
closely united to those of the Father, that the Father’s assistance will never be withheld from
himself and his sheep The ancients made a wrong use of this passage to prove that Christ is
(ὁμοούσιος) of the same essence with the Father. For Christ does not argue about the unity
of substance, but about the agreement which he has with the Father, so that whatever is
done by Christ will be confirmed by the power of his Father.
end quote.
What is interesting is, that even Jesus asked Jehovah to protect us.
John 17:15 I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one.
"you" in is this verse is the only true God whom Jesus tells us about in vs 3.

CHRIST JESUS did take Satan on as in his role as Michael The Archangel!
Note the situation:
(Revelation 12:7-9)
“7 And war broke out in heaven: Mi′cha·el and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled 8 but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. 9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth;. . .”
“. .10“Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the KINGDOM of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down, who accuses them day and night before our God. . .”
(Revelation 12:12)
“12 On this account be glad, YOU heavens and YOU who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to YOU, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.””

Rustic,
Witnesses would agree completely with your son: “we don’t need to have any doubt about who would win a battle between Jesus and Satan. It would not even be a close contest.”
The fact is that you misrepresent the Witnesses beliefs because you have made several mistakes regarding what the Bible teaches. Further the fact is that it is YOUR theology would cause doubt about Christ being able to defeat Satan!
First, Witnesses know that Jesus is THE ARCH-angel or “Chief-angel and Satan is only called a lower “cherub” which is even lower than a Seraph! The bible teaches that there is only ONE Archangel since it is only used in the singular. So you are Scripturally incorrect when you claim that “archangels had to struggle for weeks to overcome Satan.”
In fact, Daniel doesn’t even mention Satan, but clearly shows that a lower angel was struggling with a demon. And then there was no contest when the Archangel Michael showed up. So your argument is fatally flawed because of ignorance or twisting of the scriptures.
You likewise twist Jude 1:9:
In Greek Jude 9 does not say that Michael COULD NOT defeat Satan. Rather, what he refused to do was to "judge abusively" or bring a "railing accusation" (KRISIS BLASPHEMEO) against Satan.
This is something that Jesus never did of anyone while he was on earth.
"Krisis ...signifies a passing of judgement, a decision given concerning anything."—Vine's Greek Expository Dictionary; 28
Angels are clearly more powerful than humans but they also do not “rebuke” human opposers (2Pt. 2:11: KRISIS BLASPHEMEO).
Do you really want to interpret this as meaning that an angel would have to “struggle” to defeat a human? Then it is likewise illogical to interpret Jude 9 as meaning that Michael would have to struggle to defeat Satan!!!
Further, these same words are used by “The Angel of the LORD (YHWH)” at Zech 3:2. And most Trinitarians agree that the "Angel of Jehovah" is the Christ, a so-called theophany. So even Christ as the Angel of the LORD refused to rebuke Satan, but said at Zech 3:2: "Jehovah rebuke you," exactly the words of Michael. The angel of YHWH and Michael both reacted the same way to Satan, saying 'Jehovah rebuke you' because Michael is 'the angel of YHWH'.
So Witnesses also do NOT believe that “Jehovah God had to step into the fray to prevent Jesus/Michael from being defeated.” But the scriptures do clearly teach that even in heaven Jesus did not act on his own *authority* (Jn 5:19,30). Jesus had to be GIVEN the authority to judge (KRISIS) (Jn.5:22-30; Heb. 2:7-9; 10:12,13). Jesus didn't run ahead of Jehovah's appointed time for dealing with Satan.
So, while both Michael and Christ refused to directly rebuke Satan, now they BOTH do! In Rev 12:7 Michael rebukes Satan in the most forceful way, defeating him in battle with HIS angels, casting him down to the earth and then hurling him into the abyss (Rev. 20:1-3). This is something that the Scriptures said Christ would do (Mt 8:29).
Therefore, Jude 9 does not preclude Jesus from being Michael. Again, *both* Michael and Jesus had to wait for God to sanction their action against their enemies.
So again your argument is fatally flawed because it requires us to be ignorant of the Greek words used in these verses.
Further, the Scriptures explicitly tell us that Christ was GIVEN his power and authority from God–even after he returned to heaven: (Dan.7:13,14; Mt.22:42-44; 28:18; Ac.2:34-36; 1Cor.15:27,28; Eph. 1:17,19-22; Heb. 1:13; 2:5,8; Rev. 2:26-27; 5:12). God also had to subject all things under Jesus even after he was elevated to heaven. This alone shows that Jesus cannot be Almighty God since the Almighty would never have to be given anything.
Further, any criticism of Jehovah's Witnesses because we understand that Christ is the Archangel is hypocritical and does not hold up. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that Jesus is the Arch-angel, not just a plain old angel. But in actuality most Trinitarians call Christ just an “angel” because they believe that Christ is the "angel of the LORD" (the Lord's angel) in the OT.
Also, it is not even logical for you to criticize Witnesses for believing Christ is the Archangel. Because Trinitarians have no problem with Jesus continuing to be a man with a fleshly body in heaven. And yet the Bible explicitly states that if Jesus were flesh, he would be lower than the angels (Hb.2:7-9; Php.2:7-10; Ps.8:3-6). Paul was quoting from Ps.8.6 which literally reads: "[Jehovah] made him a little less than GOD (elohim)."
So it is more logical and scriptural for us to ask YOU: “Exactly how strong is your Jesus-man”?!!! Witnesses have the right Jesus on their side, but Trinitarians have an Jesus seriously weakened by having a fleshly body!!!
Yours,
BAR-ANERGES
