Christians -- Do You Believe...?
That animals have a soul? I'm looking for a scripture that specifically says this -- like when God breathed into man's nostrils and he became a living soul. I would like to know if any one has read it in the Bible. No rude answers please.

you must understand what a soul is
its a body indwelt by a spirit - the breath of God as scripture puts it
Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
soul = body + spirit
now then, like man, animals are living souls because they have a body and a spirit which is the spark of life
but an animal's soul is vastly different from a human soul as animals cannot know and relate to God
God made man alone in his very own image

The Bible is silent on this. We know animals do not have a spirit, as a spirit can only be imbued to a physical being through the breath of God Himself. And we know animals are not made in God's image as we are. But a soul is a bit different from a spirit. Whether animals have them or not, I don't know.

The Bible does not address your question. But it's established that many animals have personalities (even ants have some measure!), and I believe that God loves animals. The closest thing to an example I can think of is when Balaam's donkey was enabled to speak in the Old Testament.
Source(s): "We are allowed into heaven through grace, not works. If it were by works, your dog would get in and you wouldn't." - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

This is often debated. No, animals then would be part to sin. Others ask if animals will be in Heaven. Humans form special bonds with cats, dogs, birds and horses in particular. Jesus returns riding a horse. Bible speaks of the lamb and lion laying down together, these have to be spirit animals. So, I think they will be.

I don't know. I don't think it's in the Bible, but he gave them personalities. I hope my former pets make it to Heaven. I'm cannot imagine God not wanting to grace Heaven with dogs and cats since he saw fit to do so one earth. Why not the same ones we have loved?
