Oil light on when I start my car, goes off after a couple seconds?
I have a 2000 Nissan Altima. I start the car and the oil light comes on, and stays on for 2-4 seconds before going off. It's never done this before, I got my oil changed three weeks ago, and this started a little over a week ago. Is this something someone should look at?

Normal. Some oil filters use a check valve to keep oil from draining down when engine is turned off. With no check valve, oil takes longer to refill passages and reach oil pressure switch than it does with a check valve. They may have used a filter with no check valve. No big deal. You may ask them what they used and you may try different brand next oil change.

Before you start you car the next time, check the oil level.
It shouldn't do that. You should have it checked out by a mechanic very soon.
It's possible that the drain back valve in the oil filter has failed and isn't keeping oil in the filter. Or, it might be something more serious like a failing oil pump.
The oil light will stay on for a few seconds the first time you start the car after an oil change. That is normal, but not after that first time.

A small put off in attaining working oil tension of a few seconds isn't something to be concerned approximately. An oil replace and filter out could improve the region, surprisingly if that is due.

You may have low oil or low oil pressure. Check and fill the engine oil to the full mark on the dipstick (be careful not to over fill) and see if the light still does that.

is it possible youve never noticed it? most vehicles go through a startup check, that triggers all the dash lights. but, for peace of mind, check your oil. if its low, top it off

it is a normal thing. the light should be on until pressure comes up to the spec
