Ok, this is just the case with the girls you have come across.
It means they disapprove of the psychopath's past and actions. The girls have different morals than him. They take an automatic dislike to people who have such a violent life.
Some people leave them alone because they don't want to be victims themselves so they avoid them, some because they don't want to associate themselves with someone who acts this way and does these things to people. Some people are intimidated and scared of them.
When the girl decides to leave him alone it's because there is no point in arguing with someone of different morals if they won't change their mind and also because they don't want to provoke you so you get violent with them, or they just get bored now that they've gotten a reaction out of you and don't care to carry the disagreement on.
I'm not sure what being 'ugly' has to do with it. I think that is just a self-esteem issue, but not the most important issue at hand if the person is a psychopaths. Psychopaths lack empathy for people and it's sad. They should get therapy and work through why they are the way they are.
I've never been involved in this kind of situation by the way, it's just my take on things.
