During the Korean and Vietnam wars did the North use Aircraft to attack US and UN troops?

Ok here is my question. During the Korean War 1950-1053 did the North Koreans or Chinese attack US and UN troops with Bombers or ground attack aircraft? I know we bombed the hell out of North Korea with Boeing B-29s. Are there any reports of the North Koreans or Chinese doing the same? I know that the North Koreans must have had some type of Medium Bomber and attack aircraft at that time.

And in the Vietnam War 1962-1975 did the North Vietanmese use bombers or attack aircraft or even helicopters to the extent of that the US used, to attack US troops? I know that North Vietnam had Medium Bombers and attack aircraft.

If neither nattion used these aircraft was there a reason why they didn't?

In both countries the UN Air Forces dominated the skies. There were numerous jet fighter dog fights and during Korea you can see the way the USN aircraft greatly improved as the face the latest Soviet Fighters, often flown by Russians

In Vietnam they used SAMs against the USAF B-52s and fighters.

That explains why they didn't use much of their bombers.

    First the Korean war-

Yes- the last US ground troops killed by an enemy air attack died in the Korean war.

The US had pretty tight control of the air.

Except for the Russian instructor pilots the Communists pilots were for the most part a bunch of rookies while the US had quite a few World War II Veterans.

This mix resulted in the US massacring the MiG's when ever they came up to fight.

In the Vietnam war- The North Vietnamese were building a modern military as the war was being fought while the US was a super power. They believed the best place for the NVAF was in North Vietnam trying to defend their home land from American air raids they had good reason to believe anything they flew down south would be shot down.

The first stage of the war prior to- 1968- the NVA and VC were mainly an infantry force using guerrilla

    tactics.

After 1968 they were an armored force and use tanks in the 1972 invasion.

  • Both North-s had theirs Mikoyan-and-Gurevich and the Chengdu or Shenyang fighter jets against the US fighter jets....
