Actually, people get their knickers in a twist over the most strange things.
I believe that it is a great thing for government to protect the oppressed from the world's evils. That's not just socialism: that's Jesus, if you take scripture seriously. After all, if you take scripture seriously, then you also have to take seriously the very first scriptural text Jesus supposedly spoke.
Check out Isaiah 58.
If you have sincere questions about the legitimacy of socialism, you'll soon get a good whiff of the will of the Lord of Hosts.
And this is, if you take scripture seriously, not subject to discussion or debate. It's the way God would have us conduct our affairs.
So when I read someone condemning socialism, all I see is a person hopelessly at odds with the will of God. You don't have to abide by God's will; nobody's going to fight with you, argue with you or send you to jail, but you do have some issues with the Lord of Hosts.
Yep, opinions vary, but if you take scripture seriously, this is simply the way it is.
If, of course, you don't take scripture seriously, I obviously am not talking to you at all, so no worries at all -- so far as I personally am concerned.

Yes. They pulled their thumbs out of heir mouths and are crying for their mommies and daddies in government to give them everything they want and protect them from the big scary world and all the scary people in it.
Of course they have no intention to produce more products and commodities than they consume which must be done by nearly everyone in socialist systems or they collapse.
