Travel 3-4 weeks prior to due date?

My Father is throwing me a shower on March 10th I'll be leaving on a Friday and I'll be 36 weeks when leaving. I'll return on Sunday and on that Sunday I will be turning 37 weeks...I'm having mixed feelings about this...I tried to have him plan it earlier if he wanted to have me a shower but he's a very big procrastinator. This is my first pregnancy. The drive is 3-4 hours long.

Since you're driving, and it's a fairly short travel, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just be sure to drink plenty of fluids and take a couple breaks to get out of the car and walk around.

To ease your mind a bit about going into labor away from home, take a copy of your pregnancy records with you, and map out a couple of hospitals near where you're traveling... just in case!

Eh that is tricky because I just turned 37 weeks today and all tho I have only had small contractions here and there and they see no sign of me going into labor anytime soon here I still would be nervous to go on a 3 to 4 hour car drive just in case something did happen. I say it is up to how you are feeling maybe ask your doctor at your next visit if it would be a good idea or not for you to go before you do. If you are feeling well and up to it then go for it but if not then explain to your dad you just can not take the risk right now.

It should be fine. Chances of you delivering that early is very low unless your doctor tells you otherwise. So yes, please talk to your doctor first. Also, once you start your contractions for labor, there is a slim chance that your labor will take less than 4 hours. Most first pregnancies take 10+ hours so you have time to get back home. I'm just not sure if you'll want to be on the road during labor. I never wanted to take that chance even though the drive to my hometown is only 2hrs away. I'll let you know, strong contractions and bumpy roads are worse than strong contractions on its own.

withmy first pregnancy my doctor told me not to travel far in case something happens I can get to the hosptial.

My husband wanted to go visit his family for easter and they are about 4 hours away, this is when I was 34 weeks pregnant.

I think you will be fine. I would bring the Carseat and your hospital bag with just in case though. Better safe than sorry, the last thing you want to do is have the baby up there with nothing for it.
