what are some applications of integration?

I know calculus is very useful, but could someone elaborate?

    Newton was the first to use integration to solve problems outside pure maths; he used it to solve problems connected with gravity, which varies continuously with distance. The integral of force with respect to distance = energy, eg the work done lifting an object into space. An inertial navigator integrates the output of three mutually perpendicular accelerometers to work out your velocity and then integrates your velocity to work out your distance travelled.
