Why is there an age restriction to the "Free Filing" sites that prepare taxes?

The IRS website offers links to various online software that prepares taxes. However, it depends on age in most cases. I understand the income restriction but not age. If you have an answer, can you please provide a reference?

    I'm not aware of any site that bases their fees on your age. Turbo Tax doesn't.
