It really depends on what type of music you like, and more importantly, your vocal ability.
But here's a few songs you could do:
"Samson" by Regina Spektor: A lovely piano ballad. It's good if you've got a flexible voice.
"Dear Prudence" by the Beatles: A pop-rock ballad that doesn't stretch the voice too much, but requires a fair bit of expression/emotion.
"And So it Goes" by Billy Joel: Another piano ballad. This is a fairly easy tune, though it does require some flexibility. Good vibrato and expression are advantageous.
"I Don't Love You" by My Chemical Romance: Don't judge it simply because it's by MCR. It's a lovely rock ballad, and it's easy to sing but really requires emotion to bring it to life
"Kick it Out" by Heart: Finally, something that isn't a ballad. A short rock piece that is fun and easy to sing. It also has a lot of potential for stage presence
"Closer to the Edge" by 30 Seconds to Mars: A bit of a longer song. It's a lot of fun to sing, and it's fairly easy, though it does require some control of dynamics.
"Mad World" by Gary Jules: A beautiful piano ballad that is somewhat difficult, but fairly repetitive.
Or... you could do "Hey Jude" which is another Beatles song, and at the end with the "na na na" part have the audience join in. It makes for great stage presence and, coming off the performance, people will regard you as more likeable because you're so including.
So those are mostly ballads... oh well. Good luck with the talent show. :)
By the way, you don't have to use any of my suggestions but if you do a Taylor Swift song, I will find you, and I will kill you. Her songs are way too overperformed at talent shows and singing competitions. (In my experience, anyway.)
Once again, good luck. :D
