Why are my clothes fitting tighter with strength training?

So I've just completed a week of strength training and so far I don't like the results, will this change as I keep going or will it not change at all?

I've gotten more headaches, my clothes are fitting tighter, and the scale says I've gained weight. On the positive side my appetite is a little more suppressed and my abs are a little sore (I'm guessing it means I did something right, maybe?)

But am I doing something wrong? Or is this normal?

    You're tired, the weight is muscle mass, your muscles are building which would make your clothes tighter, you really should be eating more, sore abs are good

    Well muscle is more dense than fat. I'm going to assume that you were average weight or slender before starting this program. You're gaining weight because you're gaining muscle. And your clothes are tighter because of the bigger muscles.

    If you don't like the big muscular look, then try a different exercise program.... something more focused on cardio than muscle building. Cardio won't make you look bulky. It will just keep you slim, toned & healthy.

    Are you really skinny? If your really thin building muscle can make your arms, legs etc bigger (but your waist should get smaller).

    Its also completely normal to gain weight. Muscle has some weight to it. It weighs more than fat. Weight does not equal health so ditch the scale.

    Not sure why you would be getting headaches.
