Africans who captured their slaves in war. Before Europeans ever colonized, Africa was awash in blood in long tribal feuds and hatreds.

It is not only unfair, it is without evidence of any sort.

We certainly did not help matters. There was always civil wars and conflict in Africa because there is not enough food but Europe and Britain in particular felt they had to right to exploit other nations because we were Christian and they were barbarians who would benefit from our influence. It is impossible to overestimate how much damage Catholicism has done in Africa.

African Studies ain't my "bag" as we used to say in the 70's, I know a bit about African-AMERICAN history, mainly religious history. Having said that I also know a few revealing FACTS about the Amerindians.

I like being accurate and succinct in my language and I personally prefer “Amerindians” [though I like MY made up term: “Indigians” too] as getting to the cognate much faster. I like it better than “Indigenous Peoples” a term recent scholarship has dumped in favor of “First Peoples”, realizing the term “indigenous” is hard to figure at this remove. Who got where first and where they came from is still under study and debate. Just to rattle YOUR brain, JJ, recent Study regarding something called “Clovis Points” here in The States strongly suggests the “First Peoples” in AMERICA were CELTS!

Africa will have its wars regardless of European intervention.

Africa was far from perfect before colonization and still had problems. However, the colonization really amplified that and brought many more.

I'm not defending colonialism, but if you think that there weren't wars (including genocides), rape, slavery, and other atrocities in Africa before the Europeans, you have not studied history, at all.
