i recently moved into an apartment. trying to get settled.?
i received a glass bake dish as a present. baked chicken wings then on stove top to slowly reheat on # 1. working on the computer, had my timer on. well, i see smoke. i rushed into the kitchen and the darn glass dish blew up.
chicken wings glass all over. i cleaned up the best i could. then! noted the linoleum was burned in about four squares.
just upset. i tried some quick fixes, too no avail.
so, i don't want to cover it up and live with this.
thanks for the patience. now, when renting should i confess to the management what happened and pay for the repair? i know it was my bad and will always take that responsibility. will, i get dinged as a bad tenant? thank you for any and all advice.

Hopefully it is a floor that can be repaired in sections. Otherwise it could be very expensive. They may simply withhold money from your security deposit for this. If you want it fixed now you will have to tell them you damaged it. I wouldn't tell them how, because they may think of you as a risk for starting a fire. But as long as you own up to it, and pay for it, this shouldn't damage your rental history.
Incase you haven't figured it out, glass dishes are not to be used on the stove top, and you need to be very careful about using them in the oven, and letting them cool down very slowly when you are done.
Good luck.

I used to have properties, and was a landlord. I would be so grateful for your honesty, I can't imagine considering you a bad tenant. No idea what your landlord will think, but I am sure you will feel good about yourself for facing the music. Good luck!

blame it on them. after all, as a renter you have no responsibility.
