What makes high level math so notoriously hard?
I know this is general, as there are many different classes/focuses, but what are some of the reasons why it is thought of as hard? I'm in precal and trig right now and am planning on doing the whole shibang (math required for physics major), and would like to know what makes next level math so different. Thanks!

People don't fully understand the basics concepts of lower level math. Learn why you do things, not just blindly do them. By not knowing how to solves equations, algebraic changing equation, what sine, cosine, tangent is; you might get stuck doing problems in calculus. Having foundations from Pre-Calculus and Trig, the higher level math class will be as hard. In Calculus, you basically learn two operations to apply to functions. Taking the devertaive or integrating a function might be difficult if you don't properly learn basic algebra.
It easy to just perform the power rule on x^2 to make it 2x. But if you don't know that 2x is the slope of x^2, then higher math beyond this doesn't make much sense. Concepts aren't hard to understand. Math isn't just number plugging and chugging. Its a science, know what it means and why it happens.

I'm a senior in college and a math major myself. Upper level classes are hard because they are all 95% theory based. I loved calculus, multivariable calculus, and algebra, but the classes I'm taking right now are very complicated. I'm not very good at theory, and students like me who struggle with conceptual type stuff have a hard time, but I see students in my classes who thrive at this kind of stuff. I've had a couple of classes where you do nothing but proofs. Some proofs end up being very long and if you struggle with the theory and conceptual part it can be rough.
Good luck!

Umm, possibly with the aid of fact the northeast isn't easily the only clever cluster of intelligence in u . s . a . of america. quite, you have proved it to be extremely the alternative. here in California, the scholars are plenty smarter than you have defined. of direction not all pupils are as clever as one yet another, yet this is in simple terms life. At my college, ranked outstanding two hundred out of 3000 extreme faculties in California, maximum young ones take an conventional of three AP classes Junior 365 days, and four AP classes Senior 365 days. With an conventional SAT score of approximately 1950+. the undertaking along with your question is which you're fairly boastful and assume that your section is the neatest section interior the rustic, whilst it quite is in simple terms blatantly not genuine. i think of it quite is fairly humorous which you say you're worried relating to something of the rustic, whilst fairly you are going to be worried approximately your individual college, which seems to be plenty below par than maximum folk.
