If North Korea ever had the guts to attack us, would we retaliate?

It depends on the circumstance we would try to resolve it diplomatically first, then through force. If Korea did attack us it would be the start of WWIII. Chances are before NK attacks the US they would attack either South Korea and Japan. The UN is building forces in that area, and tensions are rising between Japan and China. Chances are if diplomatic negotiations were to occur, nothing would happen NK is led by man who has temper tantrums like a child. But so you would have Nato, Austalia, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, New Zealand, on one side on the other Side you would have NK, China, the middle east (they would join in as an effort to take down isreal) then Isreal joins the US. Who knows what Russia would do there markets are heavily tied to China, and receive much cheap labor from NK. If Nuclear war were to break out there would Be absolutely no contest the western world would blow them to bits. Look at the Nukes in the world US-7,700.Russia-8,500.UK-225.France-300. China- 240.India 80–100. Pakistan-90–110. Israel- 80–200. North Korea- Less than 10.

With North Korea's current government they can't afford to feed their population like they promise, they are also not able to build a decent nuclear weapon. The last few nuclear weapons they have tested are not that powerful. The nuclear test from 2006 only contained a 1 kiloton blast, the test in 2009 had an estimated 2-6 kiloton blast. The bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki had estimated 12-18 and 18-23 kiloton blasts. That occurred in the 1940's you would be amazed at what we have now. Look at the cold war when the US and USSR got scared it showed Between 1940 and 1996, the U.S. spent at least $8.63 trillion in present day terms on nuclear weapon research. If we feel threatened we would stockpile again and it would not be pretty. All the nuclear research that occurred in the coldwar made very powerful weapons the B41, B53, Castle Bravo, Operation Castle, Operation Crossroads. NK's nuclear weapon only around 6 kilotons while the Soviets had the most powerful nuke the "Tsar Bomba" which was 57 megatons or 57,000 kilotons. To put that in perspective it is 1,400 times the combined power of the bombs that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki, or 10 times the combined power of all the conventional explosives used in World War II. The bomb was initially supposed to have 100 megatons but it was reduced to 57 to reduce radioactive fallout. It was created in 1961. Imagine what type of Nuke the US and Russians could build if they got together in 2013, it is a little scary to think about.

Without doubt now not. North Korea is mad that the United countries punished them with sanctions for North Korea's recent (and illegal) nuclear checks. The USA is a member of the UN management: the UN security Council. The U.S. Played a key role in getting these sanctions utilized. North Korea's trying to scare the united states into getting these sanctions eliminated or diminished. Simplest North Korea cannot definitely follow via on any of its threats. If they do, it should destroy the UN ceasefire that halted the Korean war of 1950-fifty three and North Korea will likely be at conflict with the UN once more. And the long record of UN international locations that liberated South Korea throughout that battle: Australia, Belgium, Britain, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Ethiopia, France, Greece, India, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, and the USA. That is a warfare North Korea misplaced, and has no desire to conclude shedding. North Korea's depending on americans being too dumb to understand all these items and that the us will just supply North Korea what it desires in trade for North Korea calming down & behaving itself again.

Most likely we would attack them back with ten times the force they attack us as they don't have the resources to develop weapons powerful enough to take us all out. There may, however, be some hesitation to completely wipe north korea off the map due to South Korea being our allies and being so close geographically to North Korea, any attacks would destabilize the entire region (refugees fleeing North Korea, accidentally mis-targeted missiles/shrapnel etc) .. North Korea knows we'd kick their asses.. whether or not that would stop them at least attempting to attack us is another story though.

We have military bases in S. Korea so I am sure they would start there first. but they are waiting for Iran to get theirs finished. Israel will get the first one. China and Russia already have theirs When they decide to attack us, we will be attacked from all of them at once and our military will not be able to handle the attack because this administration does not see the threat so they cut the military to pre WW11 levels. But that is what America voted for this last election. May God Help us

If North Korea attacked we wouldn't be the only ones to attack, the United Nations is just waiting for a reason to take out NK, they are done with their ****, we would have help.

Hell yeah they Would!!!! they already treathed us a couple weeks ago... UNITED STATES THINKS THEIR THE BAD ASSES OF THE WORLD AND THAT GETS PEOPLE MAD....Specialy the people that have as much power as united state... Once a war starts ..theirs no fighting hand to hand only droping bombs and seeing who is left off alive ...that would be the winner
