What is the Republican solution to Social Security?

I don't see the alternative to people paying into a mandatory system that they can collect from when they retire, so they aren't left without a source of income past their useful age to society.

Republicans want to demonize it as an "entitlement", and cut its funding - but I'm honestly curious what the alternative is.

Raise the age of retirement. Keep the Social Security revenue separate from the general fund.

Do you know the Democrat plan? Have illegals pay in, then deny them benefits!

Republicans know that people pay in for this benefit and it not an entitlement. We are upset because

there is not enough money coming in and the benefit will be cut severely or end. The Baby Boomers are a huge generation, way bigger than the generations that follow. There aren't enough workers to pay for the younger portion of the Baby Boom/post WWII generation's Social Security. It's a big problem that is used for politics, but needs to be fixed so it works.

One option would be for people to pay into their own retirement accounts. That would ensure that the government doesn't spend their money and replace it with IOUs (which is what has happened to Social Security).

let people keep their own money and do whatever they want with it. they can invest it in any retirement program they want. or waste it. or spend it on charity, or burn, or whatever they want. it would be their money. instead of the governments.
