Should I change my puppy's food?
I just acquired a 7-10 week old Boxer puppy 1 week ago. When I got him he was eating Iams and so I just kept him on that.
Having no experience with dogs I don't know if I should change his food or not, he seems to be itching/chewing himself quite a bit but he doesn't have fleas and I heard that he might be itchy because of his food.
He is eating " Iams Healthy Naturals Puppy With Chicken "
link to it-

So can anybody give me a list of good dog/puppy foods? I am going out tomorrow and buying a bunch of stuff so I can get the new food. Also, can I just start feeding him the new food or do I need to do it slowly or..? thanks

Start by adding a small amount of the new food to the puppy’s diet. Thoroughly mix the new food into the old food your puppy is used to eating. Increase the amount of new food and decrease the amount of old food in proportion. Add more new food each day until you are no longer using the old food. Don't give a puppy new dog food out of the blue this can give a tummy ache in till he is used to it which is no way to enjoy life.

well, when you change your puppys diet at all it could cause you puppy to have an upset tummy. Gradually change your puppies food, add the new puppy food little by little untill finally you have all the new kind of puppy food. It's great to start your puppy off on a real high quality food, high in protein and calcium, but not so high in fiber and fat. Puupies are very intergetic and will need a high quality food to keep up with them, and fat in dog food is like sugar to people, it's them all hyper and then sends them crashing at the end of the day, plus it isn't a healthy way for the puppy to add weight to grow. In my honest opinion I've tried all types of food, and this is just my opinion, Purinan 1 is a great puppy food, so is Iams and Science Diet, and i know they are expensive but won't you rather spend a little extra on dog food and not so much on expensive vet bills. That how I look at it, I hope that you have fun with your new puppy.

Iams is not a good brand of dog food. You should look for a food without corn, grain, soy, artificial colors and artificial flavors or preservatives. Some good brands to try are:
Wellness Core puppy formula, Halo, Natural Balance Venison and Sweet Potato, Blue Freedom Grain Free, Innova Prime, and Merrick Grain Free.
When switching over you can gradually add the new food in. If that is not an option you can add about 1/4 tablespoon pumpkin puree to the food. Remember this: if your dog will not eat the food you can ALWAYS return it to Petco and get your money back! Halo is said to be the best tasting dog food. If your dog refuses to eat wait. Do not add special treats to the food or wet food. If the dog is hungry he will eat- do not give in or he will learn to trick you into adding things to the food or giving him the McDonalds equivalent in dog food (Iams, Purina, Beneful).

I rescued my puppy and we went through hell with choosing her food. She's one now, and we've finally settled on a food that doesn't upset her stomach or make her itch. I feed her Blue Buffalo Wilderness (dry). It is made mostly with protein and has no wheat product in it at all, and is also all natural, which as you can imagine is more healthy for her anyway. The wheat in dog foods is what makes dogs itch, and many dogs (like yours and mine) are allergic to this ingredient. Lamb however, is great for your puppy's stomach and is easily digestible.
As always, introduce food slowly, giving different food all at once will upset his stomach.

like both, fruits: berries, oatmeal, pears, peaches, dragonfruit, pomegranate.... Vegetables: CUCUMBERS, bok choy, green beans, broccoli,.... We guess the two are great.

They both are Just the thing for your health. If you eat both, you're better off. But yea, I had choose fruits because they taste better.
