Help with linear equations?

It's a word problem, as follows:

A small college had 2550 students in the year 2000 and 3075 students in the year 2007. Assume the enrollment follows a linear growth pattern.

a. Write a linear equation giving the enrollment E in terms of the year t where t=0 corresponds to the year 2000.

b. Use the linear equation to predict the enrollment in 2009.

I have no idea where to begin.

Linear growth for enrollment E would have the form E=m t +b where t is time and m,b are slope and offset.

Then you are given that at t=0 E=2550

    So 2550=b

    And 3075 = m *7 years + 2550

Solve for m and write out the equation.

Then plug in t=9 and find E(9).
