Bill Maher called Marco Rubio a liar when he claimed that Obama had added more debt than Bush?
Who is the liar, Maher or Rubio and how much debt did each president run up?

The debt accumulated under Bush, including the wars, was about $5 trillion in 8 years with the total debt being about $10 trillion. The debt is now $16 trillion 4 years later. Seems simple math proves who added more debt in half the time.
The left uses a little trick. They still give current war debt to Bush even that incurred during the Obama presidency. They blame the deficit on Bush tax cuts so they give that "debt" to his administration also. Funny, that is the very first time I have seen that done between administrations. I don't believe the debt from Viet Nam was added to Johnson's term after Nixon became president or the debt from Medicare, etc to Johnson's term either.

Maher is the liar and Marco Rubio is correct. It amazes me that when a liberal is in charge he is not responsible for anything until October 1st of his first year yet 9/11 happened prior to that date and Bush is blamed.
I would like to thank the following Liberals
Chewy Ivan 2 and The Beast for bringing up the FY2009 Budget.
Like most liberals and it probably includes Bill Maher they attribute the FY2009 to George Bush.
Bush did not sign a Budget for FY2009, he had to many disagreements with the democrat controlled congress so congress created a CR (Continuing Resolution) to fund the government until March 2009.
The CR funded he government based on FY2008 spending.
After the election congress knew that they would be facing 2 different budgets at the same time so quickly finalized the FY2009 budget but Obama had grand ideas for a stimulus so that was packaged into the budget with Obama signing it in March 2009.

Rubio's not lying, but he's not being entirely truthful. The fact is, the budget was already signed for when Obama entered office in 2009, so the debt added that year, about $2 trillion, is mostly attributable to Bush even though Obama was in office. And one must consider the fact that conservatives have threatened stalling the government if the Bush tax cuts are repealed, another contributing factor to the debt.
So is Rubio lying? No, but would any honest person say he's being truthful?

Rubio is correct when bush came into office the debt was 5.73 trillion. When Obama came into office it was 10.63 trillion. If you do the math. That's 4.9 trillion for bush. It's at 16.53 trillion today, that's 5.9 trillion for Obama. Even the left leaning politico acknowledges this. Kelly Ayotte made the same claim and they rated it as mostly true

Obama added more debt in 4 years than Bush did in 8.

Marco Rubio is the liar. Obama's responsibility for the debt begins with the 2010 budget. Bush approved the 2009 budget. Beginning the debt count on the day presidents are inaugurated is not fair. You give Bush credit for Clinton's final year of budget surplus while pinning Bush's final year of record budget deficit on Obama. The budget year actually begins about 7 months after the president is inaugurated.
These are the facts that conservatives ignore in order to claim their lies are not lies.

Bill Maher calls everyone a liar - or worse - if they aren't on the Obama bandwagon.
Maher is a hatemonger of the worst kind and he is wrong. Obama added more in his first four than Bush did in eight.

on march 15 2012 Obama had raised the debt by $4.93 trillion since taking office.
the debt’s increase under Obama surpassed the amount it increased during George W. Bush’s two terms in office, $4.89 trillion.

Mahr is the liar.
However, the low information voters will think he is telling the truth and very smart.
