Is 210,000 all that bad?

Im looking at a 2002 gmc envoy at a dealership. They just put a new tranny in it but the vehicle has 210,000 miles. they say its highway miles. It runs great. The milage worries me, but Im a girl who doesnt know much about this stuff lol. I guess my question would be is 210,000 miles really all that bad? P.S. they want 4,000 for it out the door. :)

Unless you are a mechanic don't buy it. At 210,000 not only is the transmission worn out but so is everything else like the ball joints, water pump, brake rotors, door hinges and anything that has not been replaced. At this amount of milage you know that there can't be many good miles left even if luck is on your side.

I know someone who has rolled over the odometer in a Chevy truck 5 times (he drives a lot, lol). As long as the car has been taken care of properly the miles really don't matter too much. I think you could find it for cheaper from a private seller, but if it has no rust and it's from a dealer that isn't a terrible deal. Just have a mechanic check it out before you buy it.

If it is well cared for, 210,000 miles is not bad.. I presume the tranny comes with a good warranty.

$4000 is not a bargain , but not too bad for a transmission with a warranty and out the door.

$3500 would be a lot more interesting, $3000 would be a bargain.

Honestly i had a 2004 chevy silverado with 200k miles and drive it cross country from Indiana to Washington with no issues.right after i got the tranny rebuilt. Mikes can bee very deceptive but as long as its been taken care of with regular maintenance i don't see a issue. I wouldn't pay 4k for it though.

Personally, I would never buy a used car with more than like 110k on it. It's really up to you on whether or not you want to take a chance on it, but personally, I would stay away from it. If you think you want it, don't give the dealer any money until you've taken it to a reputable mechanic to check it out. Hope this helps!

GEt it INSPECTED somewhere ona HOIST! Even where youa re buying it. A GM truck should last a LONG while, but they have COOLING SYSTEM issues many times. HAve the COOLING system checked up for signs of sludge and gasket issues. The basics are EXCELLENT but mos GM stuff needs some improvementss somewhere. GOOD LUCK!!

I would look at the history if te care for the car. If it was really good taken care of it probably still has lots of life!:) I'm a Chevy guy and mine have always done me great!
