I am tired of Minnesota and wish to move, any suggestions best places?

I have lived in Minnesota most of my life, and I just want to find my own place, away from relatives.

But I can't stand hot weather, deserts, or high taxes.

I want to find a new state, with low taxes, friendly people.

I also want a place that has a lot of book stores.

And has some tech industries in it.

Atm I am considering: Wyoming or Alabama.

Both sound good, but I worry about the weather in Alabama, and the loneliness of Wyoming.

Sadly, I am too much of a hermit, and is hard for me to go out and meet people.

So I want to sell my townhome and move to a state that has a good community, good job growth, bookstores, and low tax rates.

I know I am being picky, but I would value any suggestions.

Thank you for your time.

Update:

I don't plan to move immediately, but I am starting to plan for it. Any suggested places to move to?

Alabama = hot humid summers & tornadoes.

Wyoming = uber conservative politically, if you like Dick Cheney, Wyo is for you. Wind always blows in Wyoming. The only part of Wyoming I'd even consider living in is Jackson. Jackson is small town at the edge of the Tetons. Closest Wal*Mart is an hour drive away.

For low taxes, New Hampshire is the place to go. No sales tax, no state income tax. Highish property tax, but if you live in the right town and don't have a high value property it's not bad.

Hate to tell you, but printed books are a dying art. Amazon.com and Ebooks are killing the book store.

The friendliest, most welcoming people in the USA are in the mid-west. That being said, people are people and don't buy into any stereotypes you hear - like all Californians are laid back, all NYers are jerks etc..

If you can't stand hot weather why Alabama?

Wyoming doesn't have many stores of any kind let alone book stores. And when you drive across barren prairies for miles and miles its' pretty much like a desert. I suppose if you live in Cheyenne where you can drive a couple hours to Denver for real shopping.

The only area of "good job growth" in Wyoming is in energy (oil, coal, coal methane...) around Gillette or Wright Wyo.... I would consider them the last on my list of places that is a "good community" I would carefully pick your town in Wyo. I feel like Alabama you can't go wrong. There's the beach plenty of shopping and lots of nice folks and great food. Nothing to eat in Wyo but steak and potatoes.

Source(s): Oh, and taxes in Wyoming may look lower but they are made up in other places like licensing your car every year is based on the value and can be hundreds of dollars. If you have kids though, the state money is plentiful and the schools are top notch with funding for tons of opportunity. The schools are all very nice there.

Utah. rated as most livable states. dont let the whole its a mormon state scare you away!

honestly, im a nonmormon and all of my best friends are mormons....very friendly people and accepting of others too

yes, you have some that are uptight and all, but doesnt every religion?

cost of living is quite affordable.

    plenty of outdoor activities.

    has all four seasons

crime is one of the lowest in the nation as well as unemployment.

if you want tech industries go for washington.
