constipated 3 month old.?
My 3 month old son is constipated. For two days he hasnt pooped. This is day three. I seen him grunting then checked to see if he had pooped. There was one solid chuck in it. Hes never had hard poo. So I wouldnt consider that a bowel obioovement. I switched him over at 1 month from enfamil to a probiotic formula cause enfamil really made him hurt and gassy. I have given him rice cereal only twice and not very much. I found the formula iv been using to make him poop alot. So im assuming its the rice cereal. What can I give him to.help? He is super cranky.no more cereal..fyi doctor told me I can try it because hes developing faster then most children. Almost sits up on his own. Has been holding his head up since 1 months old. And hes a big baby

Rice cereal can be very constipating and can cause stomach upset and you find out. Sadly, baby food companies and old traditions say this is a perfect 'first food'. Old traditions die hard. Wait to about 5-6 months for solids, and start with fruits and veggies. Some docs are recommending meat as a first food if baby is breast fed! And cereals, Wait to about 8 months when they can actually digest grains. You are just going to have to wait it out, if Karo Syrup and water does not work.
Sorry, but rice is used to bind up someone with diarrhea. Why they push this as a 'perfect first food' is beyond me. (BRAT diet - bananas, rice, apples, and toast all help stop diarrhea by binding you up.)
My 2nd child was given that rice cereal crap by his grandma, and he wound up in the hospital.

My 3 month old also gets constipated sometimes... I just a tsp of Karo syrup in her bottle... Or i give her 1oz of pear juice mixed with 1oz of water. If none of thay works i use a suppository...

kitchen remedy- a 1/2 tsp brown sugar in 1oz luke warm water. That does the trick every time.
Don't give your baby harsh med just yet, some babies can go 3 days without pooping. It's ok if a baby poop alot, that's what they will do at this stage in their life.

You might ask the doctor if you could give him prune juice, I can't remember at what age I used this on my kids but it worked.

Definitely try the diluted prune juice - actually pear juice is better, it's just as laxative and it tastes nicer (at any age!)
If he's in pain and/or hasn't done a dooey for over 36 hours, though, put a baby-size glycerine suppository in him.

His digestive system is only three months old. It doesn't matter how physically developed he is muscle-wise, his digestive system is not designed to digest food right now and can cause serious harm to him for life.
Really.

Mix some karo syrup & warm water in his bottle. Mostly water though and let him drink it. He doesn't have to drink it all but most of it. Then, rub his tummy counter-clockwise. I know the karo syrup sounds crazy but it WORKS. His pediatrician gave me the tip for it. Good luck. Hope this helps your baby.
