Did Republicans cause their own internal division by gerrymandering such extreme districts?

Will they have to undo their unbalanced representative gains to get rid of the insane-right representatives?

Update 2:

Why do I think it happened? Because it's been publicly admitted!

""The Republican State Leadership Committee, a Washington-based political group dedicated to electing state officeholders, recently issued a progress report on Redmap, its multiyear plan to influence redistricting. The $30 million strategy consists of two steps for tilting the playing field: take over state legislatures before the decennial Census, then redraw state and Congressional districts to lock in partisan advantages. The plan was highly successful. "

Excellent point. This is aptly called the unintended consequences. When you dilute the votes of others, you elect extremists at the local level and they will help with the fall of the entire GOP party.

This is why the Moderates have been opposing their own.

i think the gerrymandering is a symptom rather than the cause of the "social disease" known colloquially as conservatism.

we heard the warning shots of the insane right when republican representatives blasted reagan's surgeon general, c. everett koop, for telling americans that "other than committed monogomous relationships, proper use of condoms is the next best way to prevent the spread of aids".

then, 8 years ago, senator john thune (r-sd) introduced a bill that would have prohibited the fda from approving the gardasil vaccine "because it would encourage promiscuity".

the insane right has always been the base of the republican party. it is not a recent evolution.

I see. So Democrats are above engaging in any activity that might tilt a state's representative count in their favor?

Why would Democrat redistricting be viewed as fair, but a Republican-led redistricting would be considered "gerrymandering"?

Oddly enough, I asked a question along these lines a few weeks ago.

    Uh..

You do know that EVERY House of Representatives does this as allowed by the Constitution right?

Democrats do it EVERY time they take control of the House.

But you probably just learned about the new word

Both sides pull this trick. Both sides suffer the consequences of such silliness. I'm in favor of rectangles, triangles and squares myself. .. . I don't know why that is so hard for our politicians to figure out. Maybe they missed geometry class.

You do understand that democrats also gerrymander their own districts?

You do understand that democrats always file lawsuits whenever Republicans redraw district lines?

Its backfiring. Everything they try to do to hurt the Democrats. It hurts them more. I don't understand who the people are in their think tanks.

Listen to the denials. The vehemence you are hearing shows that you cut close to the bone there.

I keep hearing Liberals claim there has been gerrymandering.

Do you ever offer up any examples?
