I work for a living. I have a family. I am an American. I like asiago cheese. I hate my neighbor's dog. I drive old cars because I choose not to pay the ridiculously high price for new ones. I have a functioning fish tank with no fish in it in my living room. I watch and read a lot of Sci-Fi. I play of Halo and COD. The Wii says I'm younger than I really am. I think facebook is silly. I use it anyway. I Love Christmas, Disney World, and deciduous forests. I bite my nails. I'm originally from Appalachia. I don't smoke or do drugs, and I rarely drink. I played music in bars for 15 years before I grew up. I drank a lot back then. I am a college graduate. I hate my job, I hate getting older, I hate waiting in line. I desperately want a man-cave, but we don't have room in my house. I love my Sansa mp3 player but don't use my I-Pod Shuffle. My cat, my wife, and my daughter love me, and I love them back. All that and more makes me me.
How do I make answers format into paragraphs in the new YA?
When I type, I just get a block of text. This sometimes makes getting my point across a little difficult.
2 AnswersYahoo Answers8 years agoIf half black (our President) is considered black, why is half hispanic (Zimmerman) considered white?
Doesn't seem consistent to me.
9 AnswersPolitics8 years agoSo. . if all the cops in Boston are after the terrorists . . ..?
...how many criminals are taking advantage of the situation?
Is it really true that ALL Boston cops are on this case?
9 AnswersPolitics8 years agoNow that we know the Boston bombing was an extremist Muslim attack, what are we going to to about it?
This is a new kind of terrorism in America. Small scale is much more dangerous and difficult to stop than large scale. This is exactly how Israel has been attacked for years. So. .. what do we do now?
17 AnswersCurrent Events8 years agoWhy is it that Americans "aren't willing to do the jobs, illegals are willing to do"?
Yes, the jobs are low paying, but why won't Americans work low paying jobs?
11 AnswersPolitics8 years agoCan someone define for me exactly what "the middle class" is?
I get the feeling that a lot of us THINK we are part of the middle class when in fact we fall below or above the line.
12 AnswersPolitics8 years agoNo joke. Is the Constitution relevant anymore?
The President doesn't worry about violating it. Congress doesn't stop him. Congress itself violates it with impunity. Even the Supreme Court cites international law and "precedent" in its opinions. Is it REALLY the law of the land anymore if it is not properly enforced and/or followed?
7 AnswersPolitics8 years agoDo you believe the bottom 50% of the population should be paying federal income tax?
Why or why not?
16 AnswersPolitics10 years agoDoes anyone else scream at the TV when the Fox News Sunday panel pretends like Cain doesn't exist?
Why is it that Fox has decided that the "republican field is weak"? We have a good diverse group of people running, but the media only acknowledges Perry, Romney, and a couple others that aren't even running? Do they really think they get to hand pick the candidates?
5 AnswersPolitics10 years agoWhere's my "Obama money"?
I was just wondering when this white, male, middle-aged, hard working, non-union, middle manager will get his "fair share" when the President spreads the wealth.
13 AnswersPolitics10 years agoWhat exactly do we celebrate on Labor Day?
From what I can tell, we're either saying "yay us" since most of us work for a living, or we are praising labor unions. Either way, it seems a strange thing to celebrate. So what exactly are we celebrating?
3 AnswersOther - Politics & Government10 years agoHow do you feel about political compromise?
Every time I hear the word, it makes me cringe. What are your thoughts?
14 AnswersPolitics10 years agoDo you think FOX news and CNN are in love with Mitt Romney?
Why are they pushing him on us?
8 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWho really gets outraged over politics and global events?
I find the overuse of this word disturbing. Honestly, I have never been "outraged" over a political issue. Is anyone here truly outraged over any global event. Are you seeing red?. . shouting uncontrollably?. . . punching the couch? Throwing things? Pacing with clenched fists? Don't you think we really might want to rethink using such extreme language?
8 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIs "lockdown" a legal term when applied to school violence situations?
The use of "lockdown" every time something happens at a school disturbs me. It sounds very police state. I can't put my finger on it, but it just seems . .. wrong. Does this worry anyone else? This is in politics because it relates directly to the newest school shooting which will be at the center of all political discussion on the pundit programs tonight.
7 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoAre the "poor" in the USA really poor? Or is it just a class warfare thing?
Our politicians and pundits seems to take for granted that many Americans are living in poverty. Do you think we might be defining "poverty" a little strangely? I mean. . how can you be impoverished if you are driving a car, smoking a cigarette and talking on a cell phone?
Here are some stats I found on-line
********************************************************************
"The following are facts about persons defined as "poor" by the Census Bureau, taken from various government reports:
• Fortysix percent of all poor households actually own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a threebedroom house with oneandahalf baths, a garage, and a porch or patio.
• Seventysix percent of poor households have air conditioning. By contrast, 30 years ago, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning.
• Only 6 percent of poor households are overcrowded. More than twothirds have more than two rooms per person.
• The average poor American has more living space than the average individual living in Paris, London, Vienna, Athens, and other cities throughout Europe. (These comparisons are to the average citizens in foreign countries, not to those classified as poor.)
• Nearly threequarters of poor households own a car; 30 percent own two or more cars.
• Ninetyseven percent of poor households have a color television; over half own two or more color televisions.
• Seventyeight percent have a VCR or DVD player; 62 percent have cable or satellite TV reception.
• Seventythree percent own microwave ovens, more than half have a stereo, and a third have an automatic dishwasher."

Do you think that starving kids in undeveloped countries think these American's are poor? How spoiled are we anyway?
16 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoAre you part of the problem?
Do you ever look in the mirror? Do you accept any government handouts? Do you take unemployment because it pays more than the job you COULD get? Do you vote for your Senator or Congressman because he "brings home the bacon?" Are you bought and paid for by the US government? If so, how do you justify it to yourself? Is this where the passion comes from? Pure selfish-interest?
15 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHas the political section in Y/A ever changed your mind?
For instance, I used to believe Obama's birth certificate was suspect. Someone here pointed me to some links that contained actual evidence of his birth certificate. That caused me to do some of my own research and I now and convinced that he is a valid citizen of the the USA.
Has anyone else had any "conversion" experiences here. In other words, is there actual value in this dialogue or are we just venting?
12 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoAre most Democrats really Progressives or have they just been suckered?
The data below came out on October 4:
91 percent of blacks still support Obama
79 percent of Democrats still support Obama
79 percent of Liberals still support Obama
**The data are based on an average of all of Gallup's daily presidential tracking polls in the month of September.**
