If half black (our President) is considered black, why is half hispanic (Zimmerman) considered white?

It's all about how politicians and the media choose to spin events. They place their own interpretation of events or people, and their partisan followers go along with it no matter how obviously false it is.

The white-Hispanic thing with Zimmerman started out as move for the press to cover their butts after initially reporting that Zimmerman was a conservative white man. Notice that George Zimmerman is the only Hispanic to ever be labeled a "white-Hispanic" in the news. However negatively or positively one views Zimmerman's actions, it's laughable, after getting a look at him, and especially after getting a look at his mother that the media continues to persist in calling him a white-Hispanic. Confirmation bias at it's most obvious.

Actually, Lynn, that logic makes it even more pointless to call Zimmerman a white-Hispanic, and doesn't explain why Zimmerman was even called white to begin with when he is so obviously racially, Native American. I believe the correct term is Mestizo - a person who is of both European and Native American descent.

The media wants you to believe that only whites are racist and that zims actions were racially motived. Zim is part black through his mothers side and hispanic isnt a race. Zim is multiracial and is White, Black, and Native american
