Has the political section in Y/A ever changed your mind?

For instance, I used to believe Obama's birth certificate was suspect. Someone here pointed me to some links that contained actual evidence of his birth certificate. That caused me to do some of my own research and I now and convinced that he is a valid citizen of the the USA.

Has anyone else had any "conversion" experiences here. In other words, is there actual value in this dialogue or are we just venting?

Update:

Intelligent moderates? Hmmmm. . . I'll have to think about that one.

Update 2:

We all do this for our own reasons. Some indeed are probably "attention starved children", but I think some of us really do want a discourse; I know I enjoy that part of things. I do, I admit, enjoy an occasional jab, but for me it's all good natured ribbing. It's very rare that I actually get angry.

I have a few times. For example I used to think it was necessary for there to be a balanced budget amendment. After looking at some of the answers I got, I realized that individuals buy things off of credit and the government should be able too as well, so long as it keeps it at a reasonable level. That being said, racking up $13 trillion in debt is the wrong way to go about it

it is an surprising question.. the theory of god in islam is of something it is unquestionably straightforward and suited and each of something of that, yet that concept does not for sure greater healthful with our thought of abrogation does it.. i've got given this lots theory myself and that i've got come to 3 possible conclusions- particularly i think of that those 2 strategies can definitely be reconciled in case you think of roughly it no longer as god changing its ideas, yet greater like that's seen the appropriate destiny and that's positioned a number of those tiers in between 'now' and that destiny such that that destiny can take place, like once you're enjoying chess and could think of a few strikes forward, different than if god lives outdoors of time then that's set all of the tiers up concurrently and is conscious what that's doing.. it is the thought fits ultimate for me, yet yet in a distinctive thank you to reconcile that's interior the (in my opinion blasphemous) thought that god can exchange its ideas and does not understand precisely how the destiny would be, isn't omniscient, it purely is conscious lots and might make recommended judgements approximately a thank you to convey on the destiny it needs there to take place in spite of the indisputable fact that that's frequently a gambles .. it is an thought i do unlike lots .. or the way it may be is that the qur'an isn't lots a right away transmission of god's ideas in to a guy's ideas, that's greater like a guy have been given to attain something and he'd tried to get it written down (put in to words, particularly) yet being as he's a human with a human ideas, he could no longer artwork out precisely what god's ideas have been, and incredibly lots had to wager .. it is why all of the religions have an particularly distinctive message, each now and then no longer so gentle, each now and then the variations are super, and that's through fact all religions are guy made, they're purely tries at defining undefinable issues, and that could be why the author of the qur'an replaced his ideas so frequently .. in line with probability.. desire i've got helped you think of roughly it, if no longer something

Sure, there have been a couple times I have seen a different point of view and did some rethinking. Like for instance the death penalty, I used to support it, now I'm less sure about the methods used to allow that sentence.

I used to think that the majority of people in America were intelligent moderates, I'm now convinced I was completely wrong.

I haven't. But, then I keep trying to have rational conversations with left-wingers and haven't had one yet. I love when a left-winger talks about reality and you realize that they don't have a clue what that means.

No; a lot of people here, both(theoretically) Conservative and liberal are trolls, and if I let them change my mind I would be very stupid indeed.

No, not too many people here have valid arguments.
