Aaron Shust- O come, O come Emmanuel?

Does anyone know what language the beginning part is in?

Update:

I was thinking Hebrew, but then again, it could be Latin or Greek

    The opening is in Latin.

    Veni a form of venire = to come

    Captivuum = Captives or literally prisoners

    solve = loose

    gemit = mourns

    exilio = exile

    privatus Dei filio = son of God

    The English language is an amalgamation of many different languages, of which Latin is a major one. In these short phrases you can spot some English words captive and exile especially.

    Source(s): took many courses in Latin google translator also helps if you're unfamiliar with Latin
