Could a 2005 corvette work as a first car?
Forget about the price of the actual car for just a sec. Its like 17-18k which could get you a corolla or something. It may not be the safest, but it will make the driver(in this case someone who is 17) unable to carry many people. Would it be a bad choice?

A Smart car can't carry many passengers either, and it sure as heck isn't as fast and dangerous as a Corvette. Could it work? Sure. Is it a smart idea? NO. Would you rather have your 17-year-old SAFELY carrying 2-3 passengers, or kill himself and someone else's child while showing off and losing control in a Corvette?

It would be a bad choice. In my experience about half of new drivers' first cars are destroyed in the process of the driver learning how to really drive. New drivers need disposable cars. When you have been driving for three years that would be a decent deal - assuming you can afford the insurance.

pick one or the other for a first time driver, not being able to carry many people or rear end somebody at a stoplight doing 120 because of texting and driving
