Portable Tire air pump question!?
I bought an air pump for my auto-tires and the instructions don't say how to use them on cars tires, only fballs and bikes.. but they do work on cars as well. When i place the pump onto the car tire, i notice it starts to lose air, it's supposed to do that. The pump that goes onto the tire has a *lock* hatch at the end of it, like I think it prevents air flow or something.. When i put the pump onto the tire, do i turn the machine on OR do i lock the hatch down and THEN turn it on.. (Note) i tried to pull the lock down with the pump on the tire and it didn't want to budge so I let it alone.. I pumped in air without the lock and the pressure didn't noticeably go up after about a minute.. it went up but not much. Anyways, anyone have any ideas?!?
There was no caps, It comes with caps but I have common sense lol, i know that no caps belong on them when putting it on the tire, I've pumped air before at gas stations, but those don't have the locks at the end.. just the pumping part.
Not entirely sure what you're saying albert, Vertical to the pump or vertical to me?? Should I post a picture to be more clear??
OK so i do lock it down, thanks DOCTOR!!

You remove the valve steem cap and the air pump end attach it to the valve stem and the black part is the lock push it down and it will lock it to the valve stem plug it up and cut it on and pump it up fill it up and it should have a guage on it normal is 32psi when it get to it pull up on the black lock and remove the pump from the stim and cut it off .

and this is why simple car maintenance should be included in the driving test!
push the inlator over the tyre valve with the lever vertical.
when seated correctly push the lever flat [the guage on the pump should now read] turn on the pump and keep an eye on the pressure - thats it!
