Othello`s characterisation:
- "keep up your swords, the dew will rust them" - shows he`s confident
- "fair warrior" (for Desdemona) - (relationship with others) shows he affectionate towards her
- "O blood, blood, Iago, blood!" - (broken sentences) shows he becomes angry, mad and in distress
- "he strikes her" (stage directions) - he has become vilent/ aggressive
- "How am I then, a villain...?" (monologue by Iago) - shows his dishonesty because he is on his own when revealing his intentions
CHARACTERISATION: Look at the relationship with others, sentence types and meaning, stage directions, and the way the character is seen on stage (e.g. on his own most of the time/ always with someone...etc.)
LITERARY DEVICES: metaphor/similes, simple/minor sentences...etc.
:) Hope this helps
