Installing Windows 7 over Windows 8?

So my dad bought himself a laptop with Windows 8 installed (big mistake), and he really doesn't like it. I've tried allowing booting from the DVD drive and changing the boot order in the laptop's BIOS, but still had no luck. So if I connected his hard drive to my computer (which DOES allows booting from DVD), would I then be able to format it and install Windows 7?

I would do some research into GPT vs MBR partitioning first.

nicely i'm going to permit you already know the thank you to place in windows7 and ubuntu yet domicile windows 8 is piece of cr*p!! You souldn't use pill OS like domicile windows 8 on a computing gadget that would run domicile windows 7. you would be dropping some time on it. the least confusing way is to: a million.setting up domicile windows 7 on 130gb ability with 2(3) partitions - first partition is 100mb so as that that's going to be automaticly created - 2d partition will could be around 30Gb for domicile windows 2. in case you in spite of the actuality that desire to place in domicile windows 8 in spite of my warnings: -make a 30gb partition and setting up on it 3.layout the remainder of the 130gb disk to documents partition 4.set up ubuntu on 32gb rigidity -% handbook partitioning while asked -in basic terms layout your complete 32gb rigidity to ext4 partition -ubuntu will automaticly setting up your different OSes -in basic terms be sure that your 32gb rigidity disk is first on the boot checklist
