Is it bad I admire Napoleon Bonaparte?
I'm quite open with my opinions, I think that Napoleon did a lot to shape modern Europe for the good. Not just that but his leadership is also something I admire. But equally, some may think he is a tyrant. I'm just wondering, he did reform a lot of things. Including how government was based off ability, not wealthiness. On another note, he did admit that he was power hungry. So, all in all. I do admire him quite a lot, on all fronts. Military, political, honesty and leadership.

Bonaparte admiration was widespread even in democratic societies in the 1800s. It's no accident that politicians might be compared to him favorably, such as James Polk's "Napoleon of the Stump" nickname. His reputation has languished since the late 1900s, due to the rise of anti-militarism in the post Vietnam and Cold War environment. But because he was a forceful advocate of Enlightenment toleration, especially of Jews in lands he conquerred, Napoleon still has some admirers and defenders today. You're not alone.

No it's not I admire Napoleon too. Most people only focus on the bad things often trumped up by the victorious Allies but, he did tons of good and the people most ignore that. The term evil should be left for people who deserve like Hitler, Stalin and Mao but, not Napoleon. If you compare him to the other leaders at the time he was very progressive.

Napoleon was not really a "tyrant," and he accomplished some quite positive things. It's perfectly fine to admire those things.

You are definitely a thinker who understands researching your opinions It would be wrong to admire him for the wrong reasons but all of your points are valid a far as I can tell.
