Is it okay to burn used motor oil in a burn barrel?

I changed the oil in my riding lawnmower last spring and its been sitting in the pan almost a year. It has some water in it too. Can I burn it?

Update:

Well, um, thanks Don.

Update 2:

Thanks guys! I knew it was probably a dumb question but asking is the only way to find out. That was what I was concerned about. I knew you weren't suppose to just dump it but didn't know about burning it.

I agree mdk68gto, ase certified m tech it isn't worth the possible fines and any enviromental damage plus if you are anywhere near that wretched oil burning smoke you can get some serious health short term. I recommend finding the nearest oil recycling center or garage and have them recycle it EVEN if it has water in it, the water can be removed at a recycling plant anyway.

    Best of luck

Consult a different vet. The "good ole boys" used to put burnt motor oil on their dogs. These are probably also the same dogs that died at a young age, and no one batted an eye or questioned, "why?" Not only is it harmful to your pet for biological reasons, but it is also incredibly dangerous. (See dogs burnt by kids that thought it'd be funny to throw a match on a dog being "treated for mange using motor oil.")

OMG... DO NOT USE MOTOR OIL ON THE DOG... this has ingredients in it that is TOXIC to the dog! And can be considered animal cruelty. CONTACT THE VET AND FIND OUT if they have a salve or ointment that you can put on the dog or get the very shampoo they are using for the mange. Something that will accelerate the healing.

Motor oil is very hard to set on fire. mix it with gasoline to make it more flammable. The EPA will come after yu and fine you $20,000.
